A small town of Basey, Samar is known for its handicrafts made of "Tikog". After being gathered from the the wild and bleached under the sun for several days, Tikog can be weaved into intricate mats, bags, pouches, storage boxes and other crafts. Basey was heavily affected by the super Typhoon Yolanda. Most of the laborious activities to produce these handicrafts are done by women.
